| During recess at Bay View, students have an opportunity in play in games organized by a trained Playworks coach. Playworks is a national nonprofit organization that supports learning by providing safe, healthy and inclusive play and physical activity to schools at recess.
Kids who have a positive experience on the playground, come back to class ready to focus and learn. Playworks helps make recess and lunch fun and safe for all students. Kids learn problem-solving skills, independence and leadership.
The Playworks mission: "We believe in the power of play to bring out the best in every kid. Playworks creates a place for every kid on the playground. It doesn't matter if children have never learned or played games before. We ensure they have a place that is safe and welcoming – where they can play, thrive and contribute.
